What are the benefits of Mānuka Honey?

There is so much more to mānuka honey than just natural sweetness: it is famous for its unique properties that have been shown to improve health and vitality.

Throat Pain & Inflamation

To ease a sore throat, mix a teaspoon of mānuka honey with a squeeze of lemon juice in a cup of warm, boiled water. Mānuka honey is a key ingredient in  throat lozenges because of this soothing effect.

Sleep & Digestive Health

Add a teaspoon of mānuka honey to a warm cup of milk and drink an hour before sleep. You should notice a difference with improved digestion and deeper sleep.

Energy Levels

The sucrose and glucose in mānuka honey can boost your energy and enhance your wellbeing. Add some to your tea or coffee every day for a boost that's better than caffiene!

Hair and Skincare

The natural antibacterial & anti-inflammatory properties of mānuka honey make it a popular ingredient in skincare, haircare & other products. Applying mānuka honey directly to acne or damaged hair can be just as effective.

Dental Health

Mānuka honey has a high natural mineral content that can help maintain healthy teeth and resist tooth decay. Studies from the University of Otago, New Zealand showed that eating mānuka honey and chewing the propolis resulted in a 35% reduction in plaque formation.

Wound and Healthcare

Many medical professionals value mānuka honey for its apparent antibacterial properties which have been shown to help the natural healing of wounds, burns and skin conditions such as exzema.

About the Mānuka Bush

The Mānuka honey process, from flower to jar

1. Cultivating the Mānuka Bush

Most of our honey is harvested from farms that we own, where we plant selectively bred Mānuka cultivars for high performance. We survey the land to ensure it has the optimal Mānuka conditions and we have been planting the Mānuka bush for over a decade to improve honey quality.

2. Positioning the Hives

To achieve maximum purity our hives are only placed when the Mānuka is flowering. We work hard to ensure all hives are healthy and happy with hundreds of thousands of bees in each hive to gather the precious resource.

3. Extracting the Honey

At harvest time the honey is carefully extracted from each hive and stored in a warm environment. Centrifugal spinners separate the honey from the comb and the honey is then passed through a 200micron filter to remove any remaining wax or other contaminants.

4. Packing and Testing

Next, we send the honey to a packing plant where it is creamed to achieve that silky, melt-in-your-mouth texture we all love. A sample of each batch is sent to labs for testing and verification where it is given it's UMF™ grade.
